Our Story

Southeast Valley Bible Church began in June of 1999.  We recently celebrated our fifteenth anniversary of ministry and we praise God as we look back on His hand of guidance through the years!  Our church has progressed through 4 meaningful stages of growth and development through the last decade:

The Foundational Stage (1999)

In 1999, we began meeting as a congregation in about 8 miles northwest of our present campus in the McQueen Activity Center.  The community center was a perfect place to start our ministry.  During the opening months, we had many visitors and much excitement.  Under the leadership of Dr. James Singleton, Joel Tetreau was appointed as the pastor of the new church plant.

The Discovery Stage (2000 - 2002)

In January of 2000, Southeast Valley Baptist Church merged with Maranatha Baptist Church.  Maranatha brought with them a beautiful 2 1/2 acre lot with a great building that today is used as the "Education" building.  The next two years were a transitional period for the congregation.  The first deacon team was made up of three deacons from Southeast Valley and three from Maranatha. The Lord blessed with great unity. During those years we also went from an elder team of two to one of five.  Joel Tetreau served as the Senior Pastor, Gary Davis served as the pastor of evangelism, Garland Miller came on as our pastor of worship and Roger Geiger began his ministry with us as pastor of youth and children’s education. We also were aided in these years by Chris Melvin who served for a while as our Pastor of Fellowship.  During these years, God added about 10 families to the congregation.

The Building Stage (2002 - 2005)

While our original building was adequate for Sunday evening services, we met in the McQueen Activity Centre for Sunday morning services until God allowed us to build our present auditorium in April of 2005.  While in the community centre, our attendance nearly hit 150 people!  Both the elders and deacons formed a building committee that God used to complete three building projects.

The Growing Stage (2005 - Present)

The last 10 years has been a time of growth for our family of believers. In 2015, our congregation voted on changing our name from Southeast Valley Baptist church to Southeast Valley Bible Church. For more information on why we are passionate about this change, click here. God has continually added to our fellowship and confirmed our mission in Gilbert, AZ.  We are dedicated to the sound preaching of God's Word and to reaching our community with the gospel of Christ.

We would love for you to become a part of our story.  Please contact us with any questions you might have about our church.  We invite you to join us as we seek to follow Christ for many years to come!
